Why people come to us

Your body already knows how to repair itself. PRP gives it the signal.

PRP — Platelet-Rich Plasma — is a regenerative therapy that uses your own blood plasma to trigger your body's natural repair and renewal processes. At myskiin, we use it for two distinct concerns: thinning hair and scalp-based hair loss, and skin that has lost the quality, firmness, or glow it once had.

It is one of the more clinical treatments we offer — and one delivered at myskiin by a blood-draw qualified practitioner, with the precision that a blood-based treatment demands. A small amount of blood is drawn, processed to concentrate the platelets, and the growth-factor-rich plasma is applied precisely to the treatment area. Whatever your concern, it starts with an honest conversation. Book a free consultation and we'll tell you exactly whether PRP is the right approach for you.

PRP combines well with microneedling for skin renewal. For excess hair, see laser hair removal and our guide on PCOS and laser. Book a free consultation at our Walsall clinic.

100% natural — your own biology

PRP uses nothing foreign to your body. The plasma comes from your own blood, making it one of the most biocompatible treatments available.

🩹

Blood-draw qualified delivery

Blood-draw procedures require a qualified, certified practitioner. At myskiin, blood-draw procedures are performed only by practitioners with the appropriate venepuncture training — your safety is the baseline, not an afterthought.

🌱

Skin & hair restoration

PRP is used at myskiin for both facial skin regeneration and scalp-based hair restoration — a versatile treatment with a growing evidence base.

Hair concerns

🌱
Your hair is getting visibly thinner

Less volume, less density — you're noticing it in photos and in the mirror.

📈
Your hairline has moved or changed

Gradual recession over months or years — particularly common in pattern hair loss.

🔍
More hair shedding than usual

Finding more hair in the shower, on your pillow, or when brushing — with less growing back.

💊
Topical products haven't been enough

You've tried shampoos, supplements, or serums and not seen the change you were hoping for.

Skin concerns

Skin that's lost its bounce and density

It looks older than it used to — less firm, less structured, less alive.

🔴
Skin lacking the glow it once had

Products aren't fixing it. The quality has changed and you want to address it properly.

🕳
Acne scars that haven't fully responded

Microneedling helped — but you want deeper regenerative support. PRP combined with microneedling may take results further.

📈
Texture, pore size, or tone more visible with age

The gradual changes that build up over years — PRP's growth factors support skin renewal from the inside.

Two treatment paths

PRP for skin.
PRP for hair.

The same technology — applied to two different goals. Your specialist will discuss which approach is right for you at your free consultation.

PRP for Skin

Facial PRP is applied to the skin — either directly or in combination with microneedling — to stimulate collagen production, improve texture, address fine lines, and enhance overall skin quality and glow.

  • Skin texture and tone improvement
  • Fine lines and early ageing
  • Overall skin rejuvenation and radiance
  • Can be combined with microneedling
🌱

PRP for Hair

Scalp PRP is injected directly into areas of hair thinning or loss — delivering growth factors to dormant follicles and stimulating new hair growth cycles. A non-surgical approach to hair restoration with a growing evidence base.

  • Hair thinning (androgenic alopecia)
  • Scalp-based hair loss
  • Stimulates follicle activity and growth
  • Non-surgical, no synthetic medication
Demystifying the name

What actually happens
in a “vampire facial”

The name is more dramatic than the treatment. A vampire facial is PRP therapy applied to the face — and once you understand the biology, it makes complete sense.

The label came from social media. Someone photographed the process — plasma applied to a reddened face — and “vampire facial” spread faster than the clinical name ever would. The actual treatment is a well-established regenerative procedure used in sports medicine, orthopaedics, and aesthetics.

Here's what happens at myskiin: a small blood draw (similar volume to a standard blood test) is taken from your arm. Your blood sample goes into a centrifuge that spins at high speed, separating its components. What we isolate is the platelet-rich plasma — the fraction of your blood with the highest concentration of growth factors. That concentrated plasma is then applied to your face.

In most cases, this is done alongside microneedling. The micro-channels allow the plasma to penetrate into the dermis, where the growth factors signal your skin to produce new collagen and elastin, improve cell turnover, and improve the overall quality and density of the tissue. At myskiin, the blood draw is performed by a qualified venepuncture practitioner — not a general beauty therapist.

Results develop gradually over weeks. This is a biological process, not an instant glow. Most clients notice an improvement in skin brightness, texture, and tone from around two to three weeks. The full collagen remodelling effect typically takes three months to develop. Results vary between individuals and are not guaranteed.

What happens, step by step

01

Blood draw

A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm — comparable to a standard blood test. Takes two to three minutes.

02

Centrifuge processing

Your sample is spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma fraction with the highest platelet and growth factor concentration.

03

Application with microneedling

The plasma is applied to the skin. Microneedling creates channels to allow deep penetration — the growth factors reach the dermis where they trigger the repair response.

04

Results over 2–3 months

Collagen remodelling develops progressively. First improvements visible at 2–3 weeks; full effect at around three months.

Results vary. Suitability confirmed at your free consultation before any blood draw.

The process

What happens at
your PRP session

01

Free consultation

Your practitioner assesses your concern — skin or hair — and confirm PRP is the right approach for you. Suitability is discussed honestly.

02

Blood draw

A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm by a blood-draw qualified practitioner — the same procedure as a standard blood test. Quick, safe, and precise.

03

Plasma processing

Your blood sample is placed in a centrifuge that spins at high speed, separating the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components — concentrating the growth factors.

04

Application

The concentrated PRP is applied to the treatment area — either injected into the scalp (hair) or applied to the skin surface (with or without microneedling). Session total: approx. 45 minutes.

🩹

Why the qualification matters

PRP therapy requires a blood draw — a clinical procedure that must be performed by a trained, blood-draw qualified practitioner. At myskiin, this is not something we delegate to a general beauty therapist, regardless of other certificates.

When choosing a clinic for PRP, always ask who performs the blood draw and what their qualification is. The growth factor concentration and treatment outcome depends significantly on the quality of the draw and processing. At myskiin, we hold ourselves to the same standard as medical clinics.

Questions answered

PRP Therapy —
your questions answered

Is PRP therapy safe?+
PRP is generally considered very safe because it uses your own blood — eliminating the risk of allergic reaction or rejection that can occur with foreign substances. The main risks are those associated with any injection procedure: minor bruising, temporary redness, or mild swelling at the treatment site. At myskiin, all blood-draw procedures are carried out by a blood-draw qualified practitioner, using sterile, single-use equipment. Your full medical history is reviewed at your consultation to confirm suitability.
Does PRP for hair loss actually work?+
PRP for hair restoration has a growing body of clinical evidence — particularly for androgenic alopecia (pattern hair loss). Results are not guaranteed and vary between individuals depending on the type, cause, and duration of hair loss. At your consultation, your specialist will be honest about what PRP can and can't achieve for your specific situation. Early-stage hair thinning generally responds better than advanced loss.
How many PRP sessions will I need?+
For skin rejuvenation, 1–3 sessions are typically recommended, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. For hair restoration, an initial course of 3 sessions is common, followed by maintenance sessions every 3–6 months. Your specialist will advise on the right programme for your goals at your free consultation — and we will be realistic about timelines and expected outcomes.
Can PRP be combined with microneedling?+
Yes — and this is a popular combination at myskiin for clients with skin regeneration goals. Microneedling creates micro-channels in the skin, and applying PRP immediately after enhances the delivery of growth factors into the deeper layers — amplifying the regenerative response. Your specialist will discuss whether this combination is appropriate for your skin concern at your consultation.
Is there any downtime after PRP?+
Expect mild redness, minor swelling, or slight bruising at the treatment site for 24–48 hours — this is normal. For hair PRP, the scalp may feel tender for a day or two. You should avoid washing your hair or applying products to the scalp for 24 hours after a hair PRP session, and avoid strenuous exercise or direct sun exposure for 24–48 hours. Your specialist will provide full aftercare instructions.
Where is PRP therapy offered in Walsall?+

What happens at a free PRP consultation?+
We review your medical history, discuss suitability, explain the process and realistic timelines, and answer your questions. We'll be honest if laser hair removal or microneedling may suit you better.
Who is suitable for PRP at myskiin?+
Suitability depends on your health history and goals. Certain medications, blood disorders, pregnancy, or active infection may mean PRP isn't appropriate. This is confirmed at your free consultation before any blood draw.
What is a “vampire facial”?+
“Vampire facial” is the popular informal name for PRP therapy applied to the face — it's the same treatment. The name comes from the process: a small amount of your own blood is drawn, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and the resulting plasma is applied to the skin (often with microneedling to help it penetrate). It uses your own biology, not a foreign substance — which is why the risk of adverse reaction is low.
When will I see results from PRP?+
PRP works by triggering your body's natural collagen and healing response — so results are gradual, not immediate. Most clients notice improvement in skin texture, brightness, and tone from around 2–3 weeks after their first session. Full collagen remodelling typically develops over 3 months. For hair restoration, early signs of improved density can become visible from 3–4 months into a course. We'll set realistic timelines at your free consultation.
Is PRP good for ageing or maturing skin?+
Yes — PRP's growth factors support collagen renewal and tissue regeneration, making it well-suited to skin that is losing density, firmness, or glow with age. It is particularly effective for fine lines, dullness, and overall skin quality. For more advanced laxity, PRP can be combined with microneedling or discussed alongside our HIFU and RF skin tightening treatments — your specialist will advise the best approach at your consultation.
