What a Free Skin Analysis Actually Shows You
(Including the Damage You Cannot See)

Most of what’s happening to your skin isn’t visible yet. A skin analysis is the part of a consultation where you actually get to see it, including the sun damage that hasn’t surfaced as a visible mark or line.

What it is

A skin analysis is a diagnostic step, not a treatment. During a free consultation, we look at your skin under different types of light, not just the normal light of the room. Standard light shows what you’d expect: texture, pore size, any visible spots or lines. UV light and other imaging modes go further, picking up things that haven’t reached the surface yet, and patterns that are hard to judge with the naked eye.

It’s an assessment tool that feeds into the recommendation you get, not a stand-alone product, and not a substitute for seeing a doctor about a mole or a skin condition that needs medical attention.

The part that surprises people: damage you can’t see

The most useful thing a skin analysis does is show subclinical UV damage. That’s sun damage sitting under the surface of your skin that hasn’t become visible yet as a spot, patch or line, but is already there, building towards one. Under normal light in a normal mirror, you’d have no way of knowing it exists. Under the right imaging, it shows up clearly.

This matters because it changes what "healthy-looking skin" actually means. Skin can look fine today and still be carrying years of sun exposure that will surface later as pigmentation or premature ageing. Seeing that pattern mapped out, rather than being told about it in the abstract, is what tends to make the difference between skincare advice that gets filed away and skincare advice that actually gets acted on.

What else it can pick up

Alongside UV damage, the same session can flag:

None of this is a diagnosis. If anything looks like it needs a GP or dermatologist rather than a skin clinic, we’ll say so and point you in that direction.

Why we offer it free

It costs you nothing to find out what’s actually going on with your skin, and there’s no obligation attached to it. We offer it as part of the free consultation because it does a better job than a conversation alone at showing you what your skin needs, and it means any treatment recommendation we make is based on what we can actually see, not a guess.

A lot of people come in expecting a quick chat and leave with a much clearer picture of their own skin; whether or not they book anything on the day is entirely up to them.

Worth knowing: a skin analysis is a cosmetic assessment, not a medical diagnosis. It is there to make a treatment recommendation better informed, and anything that needs a GP or dermatologist gets referred on rather than treated here.

What happens with the results

Once we’ve looked at your skin, we’ll talk you through what the analysis picked up, in plain terms, and what (if anything) it suggests for your skin. That might point towards a specific treatment, or it might just mean adjusting your SPF habits or your home routine. You decide what happens next. Browse skin concerns or the full treatment menu if you want to see the range of what’s available before you come in, but the analysis itself doesn’t commit you to any of it.

Who tends to book one

It’s worth booking a skin analysis even if you’re not sure you want any treatment at all. People who’ve had a facial elsewhere and want to know if it’s actually doing anything. People who are just starting to notice pigmentation or texture changes and want a clearer picture before deciding what, if anything, to do about it. People who are simply curious about the sun damage question, since most of us have spent more time unprotected in the sun than we’d like to admit. None of those reasons require you to already know what treatment you want. That’s the point of doing the analysis before the decision, not after it.

Booking your free analysis

If you’re curious about what’s actually going on under the surface, rather than what’s just visible in the mirror, this is the easiest way to find out. There’s no charge and no pressure to book anything afterwards.
