What happens at

Consultation & prescription assessment

Your practitioner assesses your facial anatomy, discusses your concerns and goals, and determines suitability. Anti-wrinkle injections are prescription-only — a full assessment is required before any treatment begins.

Treatment (~20–30 minutes)

Small amounts of the muscle-relaxing solution are injected into the target muscles using a very fine needle. Most clients find the sensation minimal — a brief pinch. No general anaesthetic required.

Results onset (3–14 days)

Results are not immediate. The full effect typically develops over 3 to 14 days as the muscles gradually relax. Avoid touching or pressing the treated area in the first few hours after treatment.

Review & maintenance

A review appointment at 2 weeks allows your practitioner to assess the result and make any adjustments. Results typically last 3–4 months, after which the muscles gradually return to normal movement. Individual results vary.

Is anti-wrinkle treatment
right for you?

Anti-wrinkle injections work best for expression-driven lines — the kind caused by repeated muscle movement. If your lines are present only when you move your face, you are likely a good candidate.

The treatment is most effective for adults with dynamic lines in the upper face (forehead, between brows, around eyes). It is less effective for deeply etched static lines that are present at rest — for those, a different approach may be more appropriate, and your practitioner will advise honestly at your consultation.

Treatment is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for clients with certain neuromuscular conditions, or for those with known allergies to the treatment components. A full medical history review takes place at your consultation — your safety is the starting point, not an afterthought.

What to expect before & after

Before your appointment

  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours before
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications where safe to do so (discuss with GP first)
  • No intense exercise the day of treatment
  • Come with a clean face — no heavy makeup

Immediately after

  • Avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for 4 hours
  • Stay upright for 4 hours after treatment
  • No intense exercise for 24 hours
  • No facials, saunas, or steam rooms for 2 weeks

Possible side effects

Mild redness or swelling at injection points is common and typically resolves within a few hours. Bruising can occasionally occur. Your practitioner will discuss all potential side effects at consultation. Results vary between individuals.

Does it hurt?+
Most clients describe the sensation as a very brief, mild pinch — the needles used are extremely fine. The appointment is short (20–30 minutes) and the discomfort is minimal for the vast majority of clients. If you’re particularly sensitive, let your practitioner know at your consultation.
How long do results last?+

Will I look natural, or can people tell I’ve had treatment?+

Our approach is conservative: we use the minimum needed for a visible improvement, and review results at two weeks. You can always add more; you can’t take back too much.
When will I see results?+
Results are not immediate. Most clients begin to notice the effect within 3 to 5 days, with the full result visible at around 10 to 14 days. A review appointment is offered at 2 weeks to assess the outcome and make any adjustments if needed.
Is there any downtime?+
There is minimal downtime. Most clients return to normal activities immediately after treatment. Small redness or swelling at the injection points is common and typically resolves within a few hours. Occasional bruising can occur — easily covered with makeup. We advise avoiding intense exercise and certain activities for 24 hours as a precaution.
Is it suitable for men?+
Yes — anti-wrinkle treatment for men is increasingly common. Male facial anatomy differs from female anatomy, so dosing and placement vary. At myskiin, treatment is assessed individually regardless of gender. Men often request treatment for forehead lines and frown lines in particular.
What’s the difference between anti-wrinkle injections and fillers?+
Anti-wrinkle injections relax muscles to reduce the appearance of expression-driven lines. Dermal fillers add volume to areas that have lost fullness — such as the cheeks, lips, or deep folds. They are different treatments for different concerns. Some clients benefit from both; others only need one. Your practitioner will clarify at consultation which is appropriate for your concerns.
